  • Potentially, yes. With instruments flooding in and out of our shop, we are always on the look out for something. However, we aren't just looking for anything and everything. If you wish to discuss selling your instrument to us, let us know details via the contact page or send us an email.
  • NOTE: We suggest doing this before bringing your instrument into the shop. This way we can keep you from making a trip to the shop just incase we aren't in need of your instrument at the time.
  • Don't worry, it's a common question. Odds are you didn't win the lottery with this one but we welcome you to bring it in and let us give it a second look.
  • Violin: 1/32 to 4/4
  • Viola: 12" to 16"
  • Cello: 1/8 to 4/4
  • Our rental program at The Violin Shop is equity-based, meaning that your payments don’t go towards paying off your rental violin - but instead build up shop equity that can be cashed out to use on up to 50% of ANY shop owned instrument, bow or instrument purchase.
  • This gives you more freedom and flexibility to pick the perfect instrument or bow for your needs and preferences.
  • In general The Violin Shop guarantees one week for a bow rehair, and repairs are dependent on the work being done and the workshop’s schedule. HOWEVER, if you have unique time constraints or limitations, give us a call and we can discuss options.
  • Our turn around time for a bow re-hair is something we are proud of. Depending on the situation our turn around time averages a week. If you need your bow re-haired quickly, it's always best to call and make an appointment.
  • Sometimes, yes! We have people bring their fiddle in for a quick fix all the time. However, without seeing the instrument and the nature of the problem, it's hard to be sure.
  • We take repairs and restorations on a case-by-case basis. Repairs are taken based on the discretion of the workshop - and some instruments may not able to be taken in due to the cost of the repairs outweighing the value of the instrument.
  • Appointments for repairs and appraisals are for evaluation and estimates only, and are in no way a guarantee of same-day service. Duration and cost of repairs are also on a case-by-case basis, and prices are subject to change. (However, once an estimate has been given, we will do our best to keep the final cost within 10% of the estimate.) We will always notify the customer it cost is to exceed more than 10% for approval.
  • The short answer is yes, BUT it won’t be very accurate since there are too many variables that our luthiers can only detect from an in-person evaluation. Still, photos can be a helpful tool for us to see if your instrument is something that can be repaired - and get an idea of what we might be working with.

Currently our workshop at The Violin Shop repairs and works on violins, violas, and cellos of all sizes.

While we do not work on upright basses or mandolins, we are glad to offer suggestions if you need referrals.

  • Maybe! We are always keeping our eye open for people to join the team. You can submit your resume to us at info@theviolinshop.com.
